Nationwide tells staff to work from anywhere

More and more companies are allowing the staff the flexibility of working from home the office or a combination of both. Covid forced many companies to invest in infrastructure and facilitate working form home to survive. BBc report upto 30,000 users infected on Apple Macs , seems not to have any malicious payload nor is it a large amount but as reported seems more of someone making a point.

IBM Buys Red Hat for $34 billion US dollars

Today October 28th Red Hat announced that a deal had been struck with IBM to acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of Red Hat inc , the venture will lead to an open approach to cloud and will lead to unprecedented security and portability across multiple clouds. Blue Shell Limited is on track for ISO 27001

Blue Shell is on track to achieve ISO27001 certification by February 2019 . In a statement, the Technical Director, Nigel Bazley said “it is a credit to the work put in by everyone at Blue Shell, that we are now in a position to submit for certification. A lot of work has been done and we now have a set of draft procedures in place that formalises our company policy of providing security, service, value, and integrity, the achievement of ISO27001 will formally validate our standards. ISO is published by the International organization for standards and the ISO standard 27001 is used throughout the world by Governments and organisations to show that data security is implemented throughout an organisation. Getting the most cost wise out of your Oracle Solaris estate

Solaris 10 is End of Life 31st March 2018

Well its March the 1st Just a reminder that Oracle Solaris 10 becomes end of life with respect to support unless you take extended support with Oracle. Coupled with the fact GDPR is due to come into force 25th of May 2018 you will want to ensure you have either upgraded to Solaris 11.3 or taken extended support to obtain any patches for security issues. UK Government issues Warning to companies over GDPR

In an article published today by the BBC the UK government has issued a warning that companies failing to meet GDPR standards and protect themselves from cyber attacks could face fines of unto £17 million or 4 % of global turnover. Companies will also be required to show they have a statergy to cover power failures and environmental disasters following recent issues at large organisations such as BA.
